The Greenhouse,

is about growing matters, focusing on my greenhouse and potager. I grow mainly vegetables, herbs and spices but flowers have their given place too. From seed to table, this is the nursery for my living food, we cook a lot of delicious food and I say a potager is the cook’s best friend. The greenhouse makes it possible to grow essential, colourful, warmth loving fruit and vegetables even in this climate such as tomatoes and chillies. My main blog is Tyras Trädgård/Tyra's Garden. DON'T WAKE ME UP! I’m having this wonderful dream.

Don’t wake me up, I’m having this wonderful dream.

It is a hot and sunny summers day, I can see the bright coloured Papaver orientalis, from far a can hear a bumblebee hum. I’m in my potager taking care of the herbs, they are so fragrant. Slowly and gently I touch them with my hands, what wonderful scents, thyme, lavender, sage and then I can sense a hint of oregano….I nibble a few leaves of parsley, some dill mm….this tastes lovely.

I can see it all from above, am I flying…floating, sailing through air? It is nice, I like it, don’t wake me up.

Zzzzz zzz

© This post - December lights in Tyra's Greenhouse, was originally uploaded and written by Tyra at the blog The greenhouse...

Feng Shui moment in the greenhouse, a few minutes of peace and calmness.

This is a candle holder I made a few years ago, a simple piece of wood with a wonderful smooth surface and painted in rustic style and the recipe of the paint is traditional and very old. When you put your hands on the surface it is cold like al fresco paint.

Lovely December lights, daylight and candlelights, mild and warm. When the sun comes out in December it's a 'golden day' I just love it and I so understand the ancient people that worshiped the sun and Ra the sungod of Heliopolis.

I wonder if we will get any snow for Christmas?
We did have some wonderful winter days in November but since then it has been reallt mild and awfully dark outside. Look at my post from the 22th of November, those picture looked almost like the Christmas cards I use to send, that is precisely how I wish my garden to look like during the winter. Hello up there...I wish you to come back with my magical winter land.

'Kung Bore' our King of winter, come back and give as a winter cover thick and light as eiderdown!

Make my garden clean, quiet and glimmer with snow, please!

HEAVY STUFF - new Books on my Bedside Table

Garden Books to be enchanted by.

Look at these wonderful books that I presently have got on my bedside table. They are written by Claus Dalby, who is a Danish author. This first one is called ‘Drivhus drömmar’ (Greenhouse dreams) and is written in Danish which I can read with a little imagination, I have lived in the most southern part of Sweden many years ago and that is very close to Denmark so when I learn a bit Danish. The Swedish and Danish languages are quite near each other.
This book is amazing with almost 350 pages filled with goodies for a greenhouse fan like me. The photos are numerous and very beautiful.
Claus Dalby takes us with him to visit various greenhouses, small and large and even enormous ones. Old, stylish or contemporary, just a wonderful mix of greenhouses. We also and that a find especially interesting meet the wonderful people behind the gardens and greenhouses, the owners themselves. Claus also show us the surrounding hedges, small paths and fences around the greenhouses.

The second book is ‘Den levende haven’ (The Living Garden)

This is a more typical garden book about gardening of course, about plants, how to grow them and primarily a very inspiring book perfect for cold and dark winter evenings.

In the beginning of the book you can follow Claus Dalby into his garden and Oh lala what a garden!

The books are published by Klematis.

Hm...I just had to add a picture from my is from last spring.

The only negative things about these books are that when you finally are falling asleep then 350 pages on your face it is heavy stuff!
