The Greenhouse,

is about growing matters, focusing on my greenhouse and potager. I grow mainly vegetables, herbs and spices but flowers have their given place too. From seed to table, this is the nursery for my living food, we cook a lot of delicious food and I say a potager is the cook’s best friend. The greenhouse makes it possible to grow essential, colourful, warmth loving fruit and vegetables even in this climate such as tomatoes and chillies. My main blog is Tyras Trädgård/Tyra's Garden. Frosty flowers and fruit

I found these absolutely lovely frosty flowers in one of my favorite blogs La Source au Bois. I know it's a little bit 'Christmas' over them but I think one can use frosty sugar flowers all year around and I wanted to show you all the beautiful pictures.

You make these wonderful decorations with fresh dry flowers or fruit, egg white and sugar. The recipe isn't very difficult though my first attempt ended up in the bin. I guess I have to practise a few times....or more.

Frosty Fruits, Figs, Kumquats and Lime fruit aren't they pretty?

Thank you La Source for letting me share these pictures.

Have a nice day to you all/ Tyra

And there were light....finally

After a long period of grey and gloomy January weather the sun came out today! It really makes all the difference. I certainly get in a better mood when the sun is shining. Today is the day that we clear all our Christmas decorations away, it is the 20th day after christmas. It is also Knut's day it is his name day. Name days are a tradition of attaching personal names to each day of the year, and celebrating the association of particular days with those for whom that day is named. Congratulations to all that is called Knut. It is a very old name and I don't know anyone called Knut. However some 1000 years ago there were Kings called Knut and even a Saint Knut.

It was really pleasant in the greenhouse a forgot to check the thermometer.

Sunshine in and Christmas out!

Have a nice day!

Geranium - You brighten up my day!

I took this picture today the 7th of January, this Geranium plant has been in bloom since June. The Pelagoniums are amazing plants, they brighten up the windowsill, greenhouse or garden and today it brightened up my otherwise quite dull and gray day with its fabolous colorful flowers.

The care of the Geraniums are so easy, they are like us humans.

  1. loves the sunshine
  2. needs a lot of nourishment
  3. loves a drink, but
  4. needs to dry out
  5. needs a winter rest.
I'm in my 'Summerhouse' for a few days and here is the place where a store all my Geraniums during the winter. I keep the temperature quite low here and the Geraniums like that, they are having there winter rest. I'm not very good at keeping the Geraniums for years and years nevertheless I do my best every year, some live and the rest.......after a long stuggle for life dies.
Tänk att en liten planta kan vara så tålig och ge sådan glädje under en så lång tid. Pelargonerna är fantastiska. Jag hoppas verkligen att jag inte tar dö på mina små älsklingar!
Have a really nice day and make me glad.... write something
