The Greenhouse,

is about growing matters, focusing on my greenhouse and potager. I grow mainly vegetables, herbs and spices but flowers have their given place too. From seed to table, this is the nursery for my living food, we cook a lot of delicious food and I say a potager is the cook’s best friend. The greenhouse makes it possible to grow essential, colourful, warmth loving fruit and vegetables even in this climate such as tomatoes and chillies. My main blog is Tyras Trädgård/Tyra's Garden. This cannot be true!

Can it be true? Yet another glorious day with a clear blue sky and almost summer temperatures.
There are so much to do in the garden at this time of the year and it is so very delightful to get this fantastic weather, it makes it much more fun. I rather put on the sprinkler than to get the water from above. The best thing of course would be if the rain came at night and that the sky would clear up in the morning but no that never happens. This however is the second best, thank you lord.

I'm standing in the door at the greenhouse and looking at the pots of herb that I just put outside. I'm so glad that I can take out some pots from the greenhouse so I can fill the greenhouse again with other with my tomatoes and chilli plants :)

Good Morning, it's six o'clock and time for a coffee in the greenhouse.
Have a happy weekend to you all! Do write something it's so nice to here from you./TYRA

Oh Happy Day!

Allium cepa, The Greenhouse in Tyra's Garden 2008
Finally the day has come when it's warm enough to begin with the greenhouse and potager. After a cold morning the temperature klimbed up to 10 degrees and that means that I have above 20 in the greenhouse...nice.

Springflowers, herbs, roses and an Artishoke

April in the garden, the potager.

After a hard few days work the potager is clean and tidy and the soil is ready, time for the fun bit planting. I planted some new Lavendula Officinalis plants twelve of them that I found in the store for an irrestistable price, I just had to have them. Then I planted some seeds spinach and Calendula Officinalis in the potager tomorrow it's time for the onions that's going to be fun, I love onions and usually I have about 6 different types Allium Cepa.

My Veranda - Seedlings

Seedlings on the chiffonier, tables, chairs and....the floor.
I told you what my veranda was cluttered up with seedlings, it was a long time ago that we actually could have a meal by the dinner table. But I do love this time of the year when you are buzy buzy with all the seedlings. You start out with a few colorful seed catalogs and up with hundreds and hundreds of "babies" that needs your attention every day. The hands are more dirty than clean and the state of the nails....don't tell me about it. Here are some pictures how it looked this morning.
My chiffonier with a Physalis from last season on the left hand side. Common Hollyhock a favorite of mine and this year is the first time I grow it from seed. Very exciting!

Heirloom Tomatoes: Crnkovic Yugoslavian, Federle, Green Zebra, Glacier, Czech Excellent Yellow and at Priciple Borgese and that is on old Italian. I do have some others that aren't heirloom like Money Maker, Sweet 100 , Ildi etc.
