The Greenhouse,

is about growing matters, focusing on my greenhouse and potager. I grow mainly vegetables, herbs and spices but flowers have their given place too. From seed to table, this is the nursery for my living food, we cook a lot of delicious food and I say a potager is the cook’s best friend. The greenhouse makes it possible to grow essential, colourful, warmth loving fruit and vegetables even in this climate such as tomatoes and chillies. My main blog is Tyras Trädgård/Tyra's Garden. ABC Wednesday and now the F... word

F...

My 'F' stands for four

Four can stand for so many, many things:

The four elements of alchemy were earth, air, fire and water.
The four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
There are four basic states of matter: solid, liquid, gas, and plasma.
There are four human blood groups (A, B, O, AB).
Four terrestrial (or rocky) planets in the Solar system: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars. wikipedia

4, 4 me

The first thing that comes into my mind is the four seasons. I love the changes in the nature, I could not bear to live with eternal sunshine. I remember during my stay in northern Africa which in many ways were very interesting but the weather, so dry and hot. The dryness was the worst part. Everything was so dirty. I was actually longing for heavy rain and so were they of course too.

Here are the 'Four Seasons' in my little plot Tyra’s Garden.

First out is the winter

and then comes the wonderful spring

and the gardener is so busy...full of activity.

The lovely purple Syringa vulgaris blooms in May/June.

after spring comes summertime, then the livin' is easy... the Papaver is everywhere

Fall or Autums enters with the colours that gives amazes us and gives us joy.

FFFinally we are back to square one again, the long much to long winter.

Which season are you living for?

Don't be a stranger my friend, do write something./ TYRA

Tyra, A fabulous post and what a catchy title...What season? Right now I am waiting with anticipation for spring! I love all the growing seasons and sort of accept winter as the inevitable time of rest for plants and the garden! gail

People say that we in Southern Callifornia live in the land of eternal sunshine. That's not really true although of course we have a corner on the sunshine market.

I find summer here just a shade too hot for me. I love winter and spring in my climate! I live for those mildly warm sunny winter days!

What a lovely post, Tyra! Thinking of "four" is so clever, because as you say, the number occurs in so many ways in the universe. But I love your garden most of all--thanks for the tour! Spring has always been my favorite season of the year, but I agree without all four seasons, including the long winter, I don't think we would appreciate the beauty of spring as much.

Tyra, that says it all.
All seasons are beautiful - your photos prove that. Right now I think that we all are waiting for spring.

Lovely post Tyra! I do love all the seasons besides winter. So for me three is the magic number. Three seasons I love, and I also have three children, or almost adults, my three lovely girls. Thanks for not saying the F-word =)

Hi Tyra. These are such great photos. I love your garden, and especially that beautiful greenhouse.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm about to have a closer look at yours. I see those elderberries and the recipe. I used to ride my horse up in the hills/mountains around here and there were just loads of Elder Berries up there. However, I no longer have a horse, and the access to where my friends and I rode is now cut off due to a different owner not allowing people on his property. Sad.

Have a great day.

Vilket fint bildreportage. Nu hoppas jag att våren är på gång men det är ju synd att när jag har väntat så länge så plötsligt är det sommar.

Ha en fin dag

4 is the number of members in our family!! Fabulous four!

I like the fact that we have changing seasons in Sweden and I like domething with everyone of them. Although I must admit that some spring would be nice right about now.

Beautiful!
Usually I say I'm NOT a winter-person, but I do need the seasons. Maybe a "light winter" like south of France is my cup of tea, norwegian winter is too hard, but I love the spring and summer.
Anyway, post is WONDERFUL, Love it!

So many choices !!!! In fact if we think a bit there are so many good thing that begin with this letter F. I love your photos of your garden in all the seasons.
Here in Portugal where I live, we are now in Winter but the days are sunny and not very cold.
I would love to live for some time in a place where it snows in Winter. Here in Portugal, only in the north and high lands.
Have a nice week.

What a great post! I love all the garden pictures-beautiful!

We pretty much only have two seasons here, summer and winter. It works out fine because about the time we get tired of cold and rainy, it turns to summer and when we are tired of hot and sunny, it turns to winter. I do miss spring and autumn though.

I don't know that I live FOR a season, but I do know that I do not like winter because I do not like being cold - my ancestors have been in Florida for too long - I have no cold weather blood in me. :) Nice post for the week.

You have a beautiful place in which to garden! I'm sure everyone is a tad envious. ;-)

Great 'F' post and your greenhouse is gorgeous! I am definitely living for summer, unlike you I remember my years in Africa with great fondness - I loved the dry heat and not having to worry about wearing huge mounds of clothing to keep warm! Just goes to show, we are all different, that is what makes the world such a fascinating place :)

I'm living for all of the seasons, they have a beauty of their own each. I love your photographs in your garden.

Sorry this is so late Tyra - I am not sure how I missed your F word :) What a beautiful greenhouse - I think that I could live in it no matter what the season !

Hi Tyra. I've missed several of your ABC posts ~ I'm glad I found them now tho. This one is fabulous. I love the photos of your garden in all seasons. I can't pick a favorite when they're all so picturesque. I am looking forward to spring tho ~ can't deny that, then the lushness of summer after that (my favorite time of year).
