The Greenhouse,

is about growing matters, focusing on my greenhouse and potager. I grow mainly vegetables, herbs and spices but flowers have their given place too. From seed to table, this is the nursery for my living food, we cook a lot of delicious food and I say a potager is the cook’s best friend. The greenhouse makes it possible to grow essential, colourful, warmth loving fruit and vegetables even in this climate such as tomatoes and chillies. My main blog is Tyras Trädgård/Tyra's Garden. I like Zinnias, especially those with big blooms. And of course in drifts of the same colour. If you haven´t tried 'Green Envy' you have to do that! Kram! /Ruben - your fauvorite blogger

Zinnias are such lovely, showy plants, aren't they? And yet fairly easy, if I remember rightly.

Lovely picture!

I adore zinnias and would very much like to grow them, but they get powdery mildew really bad in this garden. I miss them. Thank you for sharing yours with us!

Oh, I just love your greenhouse! I have a small 6x10 that I just love so much. I hope to build a much bigger one some day. Zinnias are my new favorite. I started growing a few last year. They are great in a bouquet :). I have a new one that I ordered from Johnny's Seeds- but it is on back order. Here is a link, if you want to see it, it's just beautiful! http://xrl.in/1ehu

Hi Jay and welcome into my garden. Yes they are fairly easy but the best thing is that they flower for so long.

Hi Barbee I'm sorry to here that you have trubble with the powdery mildew.

Hi Willow and thank you for your comment, it is a smiling happy flower isn't it. :-)

Hi Tessa I'm glad to here that you like my greenhouse, I have built it myself so it is almost like...'my baby'. I will pop over to Johnny´s and have a look at your Zinnia.

Zinnias are lovely and humble flowers, ideal for the country garden. I particularly like this color.

Tyra,

Wow! you built it yourself! Very impressive- I think what I like most about it is that it has such charm :) That must mean that you do as well, being built by your hands it's a reflection of you :)

If you start your own seeds- while you're at Johnny's take a peek at his soil block makers. They are my favorite tool and I've made it a point to pass on these little gems to every gardener I know. My seed starting is a snap, and they take up much less room in the greenhouse- if you want to know how I use them pop on over and look at the label 'tools' to find a couple posts about them.

Happy Gardening!

Love Zinnias, I tried them out for the first time last year and are certainly going to grow them this year too.

The frost and snow are gone now and we're back to dull and grey most of the time but right now the sun is shining.

Have a lovely weekend!

Kram, Yolanda

I love these ABC posts Tyra. I'm just catching up on your greenhouse happenings. I haven't been here for a while. Love your topiaries. I've never made one but I admire them. Is it hard to do?? Your zinnia photo is beautiful too. I am a fan of them also. It's one flower I have to HAVE every year in my garden. I hope we get an early spring, I'm hibernating and dreaming too....
